The benefits of massage therapy are well documented in medical literature. Massage relieves stress, improves circulation, increases joint flexibility, releases chronic muscular tension, reduces blood pressure and relieves headaches.
Lowering stress levels can help you keep excess weight off, because your body is more likely to store extra calories as fat when you’re feeling chronically stressed. Improving circulation and blood flow to your muscles helps them to stay better... nourished. Fatigued muscles need the oxygen and nutrients that increased blood flow supplies, in turn, your body can build more muscle tissue and your muscles become stronger and more dense. By improving the flexibility and range of motion in your muscles and joints, your connective tissue strengthens and can help your muscles and tissues heal faster. Massage will also help to break down scar tissue in your muscles and eliminate lactic acid and other toxins that can build up in the muscles during a workout, so you’ll need less recovery time after a workout.
