We use encrypted connections for the user account manager and for all webpages related to billing. You can tell the connection is secure when the address starts with "https" and the padlock icon appears on your browser near the address bar.
Our massage subscriptions are month-to-month. You cancel at any time. Just let us know at least two days before your billing day by email, support ticket or phone call.
Your ad has a stats counter that tracks the number of unique visitors each day. (Every visitor is counted only once.) You'll also know if you receive emails from us, because they're forwarded through our email service. When you receive phone calls, be sure to ask where the client found you.
Not necessarily, but they must look professional. Ask a friend who's good at photography to snap a few shots — some near your massage table, and some outside, preferable when it's cloudy or near the end of the day (that's when the lighting is best). Discard any blurry photos. Be sure to freshen up and wear professional, clean clothes that aren't wrinkled.
If your state, city or county have massage licensing laws, yes, you must be up-to-date on your licensing to list on MassageFinder.
Every massage style is unique. It's important that you explain in your listing what makes yours different from everyone else's. You don't need to write a novel, but certainly write 250 words or more. Make sure you look friendly and professional in your photos. And try to enhance your treatments with as many client-pleasant add-ons as possible — aromatherapy, heated towels, etc.
Your listing is associated with a single address or intersection. It appears in all search results near that location. For instance, if you create a listing in Burbank, CA, it will appear in the search results for all nearby cities, from Los Angeles to Santa Monica.
In this age of Facebook, LinkedIn and Yelp, it's more important than ever to create a personal connection in your advertising and networking. No one is going to go to your massage studio or have you come to their home or office if you don't even show your face in your advertising.
Our overriding mission is to connect massage therapists with massage lovers in their area. We do this by heavily promoting the website — through online and offline advertising as well as search-engine optimization — to bring in potential massage clients by the hundreds of thousands.
MassageFinder is a location-based listings engine. When potential massage clients arrive on the homepage, they enter their location (city name or ZIP code) in a search box. When they click the "Go" button, they get a list of all massage therapists in our system within a certain radius (usually 50 miles, but sometimes it's increased to up to 150 miles if not enough listings are found nearby).
From the search results page, site visitors can click the photo of any massage therapists to view their profile. The therapist profile contains a wealth of standardized information — their phone number, techniques/modalities, training, licensing, etc. — as well as an introduction from the therapist. We require a lot of information because we believe that's the best way for massage clients to make apples-to-apples comparisons and decide if you're the best match for what they're looking for. Hiring a massage therapist is, to a large degree, an act of trust, and information is crucial.
